Telegram CEO and founder Pavel Durov has shown his unwavering support for the cryptocurrency game Hamster Kombat, which is becoming increasingly popular on his messaging app. Durov highlighted the game’s extraordinary growth, saying, “Hamster has gained 100 million monthly users in just 73 days.” With four to five million new subscribers signing up every day, Hamster Kombat is the world’s fastest-growing digital service.
In a post on his Telegram channel on Thursday, Durov discussed the digital services industry entering a transformational phase. He described Hamster Combat as part of a “new wave” of mini apps that use blockchain technology to establish user connections. He thinks a larger audience will become familiar with blockchain through these smaller apps.
Telegram’s more than 900 million users can access Hamster Kombat and other mini-apps without leaving the messaging platform. Many games, such as Hamster Kombat and its predecessor Notcoin (NOT), are compatible with Telegram’s chosen blockchain network, The Open Network (TON). Through a token airdrop, this integration gives players access to the lure of cryptocurrency incentives.
For weeks, Hamster Kombat has promoted its fast-growing user base. On Thursday, Durov corroborated these estimates, announcing that the game has received an incredible 239 million sign-ups in just three months.
The game’s rapid rise is not an unusual incident. Notcoin, which came before Hamster Kombat, resulted in one of the year’s most notable gaming token releases. Hamster Kombat has already eclipsed Notcoin in terms of pre-token launch engagement, with over 150 million users. To support his claim that Hamster Kombat is currently the fastest-growing digital service worldwide, Durov said that the game is bringing in four to five million new players every day.
